「として」has three completely different meanings at N2. Most people only know "as (in the capacity of)," but it's also used for hypothetical calculations and emphatic total negation.
Use 1: Noun + として = As… (Identity/Role)
The most common use, expressing in the capacity of a certain identity or role:
